Transferring domains

In to Suzko, out from Suzko, and what the auth code is.

Transferring a domain moves it from one registrar to another. The gaining registrar charges you for the transfer (usually equivalent to one year's renewal, which is added to the term). The losing registrar releases the domain.

Transfer IN (to Suzko)

  1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar. Most have a "registrar lock" or "transfer lock" toggle in domain settings.
  2. Get the auth code (also called EPP code or transfer code) from your current registrar.
  3. Come to /domains, enter your domain, and hit Transfer.
  4. Paste the auth code, confirm the cost (1-year renewal + transfer fee), check out.
  5. Your current registrar emails the registrant — approve the transfer there. (If you ignore it, the transfer auto-approves in 5 days.)
  6. Transfer completes within minutes to a few hours of approval.

Transfer OUT (from Suzko)

We don't lock anyone in. Same flow, in reverse:

  1. /dashboard/domains → your domain → Transfer Lock → toggle off.
  2. Click Get auth code. We email it to your registrant address.
  3. Initiate the transfer at your new registrar. Paste the code.
  4. We auto-approve the transfer-out within minutes — no email confirmation needed from our side.

Requirements

  • Domain must be at least 60 days old since registration or last transfer. ICANN rule, not ours.
  • Domain must not have been changed (registrant updates with identity-change implications) in the last 60 days. ICANN rule.
  • Domain must be unlocked at the source registrar.

What carries over

  • Your remaining time on the domain (plus the new 1 year from the transfer fee).
  • The current nameservers. The transfer doesn't reset DNS unless you change it.
  • Your contact info as listed at the source registrar.

What doesn't carry over

  • DNS records hosted at the source registrar's DNS service. If your DNS was at Namecheap and you transfer in, the records don't follow — set up DNS at us before changing nameservers.
  • Email forwarding rules and other registrar-specific addons.
